Hello, my name is David and I am 36 years old. Swimming has always been my passion. At the age of 13 I gained my open water scuba diving qualification and since then I have gone onto scuba dive and free dive all over the world.
I have a background in teaching at primary school level. I spent two years living in South East Asia, where I taught English as a foreign language. I have also worked as a carer in the community providing a range of services to vulnerable individuals. I have combined my passion for water with my desire to help improve the daily lives of individuals.
I base my teaching practices around each individual. I work closely with participants to develop a personalised plan in order to achieve their goals. I work in a stress free and calm environment where all participants can feel comfortable and confident. I strive to make every lesson enjoyable and interesting whilst ensuring continual progression and development.
I highly recommend David, he is very attentive and a great instructor who put my daughters at ease from their first lesson. It has been amazing to see their confidence and progress flourish only after a few lessons. I’m a very proud mum and my girls can’t wait for David’s lessons each week.

David immediately gained his trust and within the first session, he was happy and relaxed in the water. After a few weeks, he is swimming, jumping in, going under water and many more things. David is simply the best swim teacher we have ever had. His gentle nature enabled my youngest to swim (previously wouldn’t let go of his float!) and he has now been accepted in a swim academy all thanks to David. My eldest was a confident swimmer but has improved so much & he now swims competitively. I can not recommend David highly enough.

We bought a shared three hour package with David at Everlast gym, Imperial Park, Bristol and he has helped us both in how well we swim. I knew how to swim using front crawl but David took me back to the basics and illustrated how technique was so important to swim better and for longer. The same with my friend in terms of breast stroke. He was very engaging and patient and explained how to do something and why it would help us. That really helped my understanding of each component part that as a whole allows someone to swim better. We plan to head back to David in the New year to learn a different stroke as we enjoyed the sessions and learning a new skill.
As parents we can’t praise David enough. Our son Lucas who has additional needs loves going and has progressed enormously. David is friendly, professional and has patience of a saint and is able to connect with Lucas enabling him to accomplish something which we didn’t think was possible. David is an asset to the company and we highly recommend him to all who need a swim teacher.

At the age of 78 I decided to learn to enjoy going into the pool & to learn to swim properly.I could not have wished for a better coach than David.He is patient,he needed to be, encouraging and thorough.David is also a great guy.I now look forward to getting in the pool.I am going to miss my lessons but just as important I am going to miss meeting David twice a week.

These lessons with David have been the best ones my 13 yo Daughter has ever had! After years of group lessons with minimal improvement, the pandemic made me take the plunge to a set of private lessons which has made all the difference in re-establishing strong swimming technique, confidence and most of all FUN with a re invigorated love of swimming.
David is really excellent at communicating and is very calm, gentle in approach ensuring she felt comfortable and able to understand his instructions, he is talented in coming up with ways of keeping his students focused and engaged.
In summary he is extremely professional and an excellent instructor who has made a significant improvement in my Daughters’ swimming in only 6 lessons.

Of note however is that the administrative/office team of Swim Now are not organised nor do they possess the amazing communication of David. They were difficult to communicate with and unapologetic when excessive messages were sent in error. Had I not had the first lesson with David I would have moved to another provider because of their communication style.
My grandson has swimming lessons with David and has come on leaps and bounds. David was very calming with Charlie when he first started as he was petrified of water. Their relationship is lovely to watch and Charlie does everything David asks of him. Charlie is now going under water and learning to swim which I never thought would happen. It will be a great shame when the lessons are no longer needed but thankfully we are not there yet. I’m amazed with the work David has done to get Charlie where he is. David is a very calming person and knows how to help Charlie when he becomes upset and to give him time to gather himself and start again
Having recently returned to swimming following several years absence, I booked a course of lessons with David with a view to improving my swimming stroke. I found David to be very patient, encouraging and extremely knowledgeable. My swimming stroke is now far more effective, controlled and less tiring! I would highly recommend David, without hesitation, in all areas of swimming for any age and ability

In 10 weeks our son has gone from a non swimmer to being able to swim a full length of the pool. David makes him feel relaxed and safe in the water which has undoubtedly aided him in his success. I booked an intensive course for my two young children who could not swim, and within no time at all, they were both completely comfortable and competent in the water. I was in awe of the progress they made, swimming underwater, managing their breathing, learning strokes, entering the water and floating all within the first couple of lessons. My children now have such a passion for swimming and I’m so grateful to David for his warmth, his patience and his incredible skills. This is genuinely one of the best investments I’ve ever made for my children, I cannot recommend it highly enough and I believe that David was born to teach. Both my children adore him and I’ve had to promise to book more lessons to advance their skills as they just want to continue to develop and spend time with him. I’m so grateful to David and cannot praise him highly enough.
My two children absolutely loved their lessons with David. My son has autism and for him group lessons was too much and he just refused to engage before he started with David. Whilst he wasn’t scared of water Lucas didn’t like to put his head back, even in the bath, but David seemed to have this way with him that made Lucas completely comfortable and he progressed really quickly with David. We joined Swim Now as I felt Josh wasn’t progressing as he should do at the local leisure centre. From the start of the first lesson David asked what we wanted him to focus on each week so he could tailor the lesson to Josh’s individual needs. Since then, Josh has gone from strength to strength and completed his 400m badge which we would never have achieved at the local centre. But the main thing to take from this is that David makes the lessons fun, interactive and relatable. He is also professional and has endless patience! So much so Josh has never said he doesn’t want to go swimming! I can’t thank David enough!

David was very attentive to his needs and was very compassionate if he got up. My grandson can swim 10m and loves going under water. David is an asset to swim now and is worth every penny if your child is scared of water. He teaches but also has play time for lighten it up a little. I am 74 years off age and have never been able to swim due to an incident in my childhood, however David has taught me to float and put my face in water he is very patient as sometimes I panic but David is always there to reassure me. He gets in the water with you at all times so you are completely safe. I cannot recommend him enough he is an excellent teacher and I trust him completely as done swimming teachers do t get in the water so you haven’t always got the confidence. I highly recommended him to anyone young or old.
