Ian – Senior Swimming Teacher – Newcastle

Hi, my name is Ian,

I have been involved in sport all of my life, swimming from an early age gaining my Bronze, Silver and Gold Survival awards. I loved football and athletics growing up but a knee injury changed my sporting direction and for the next 23 years I competed in Triathlon. I was fortunate enough to race for Team GB on a handful of occasions in this sport. I competed in all levels of triathlon from sprint distances to Ironman.My current focus is distance swimming, having completed the Tyne River Swim (Quayside to South Shields) and also swimming the length of  both Coniston and Ullswater lakes.

I am very passionate about swimming which I believe makes a big difference when I teach, as my passion for the sport comes through. I love to listen and help everyone I teach to understand their goals. Being patient and understanding really helps because everyone learns differently and I adapt the lessons accordingly. I find that being able to reassure the client, put them at ease and make that first lesson enjoyable is crucial. Swimming is an important life skill and I am fortunate enough to teach this with a company like Swim Now.
