Hey Everyone! I’m Laura,
From a really young age I have always loved swimming and couldn’t imagine life without it! I started off at age 4 and joined Chesterfield swimming club when I was 7 and at first I simply wanted to beat my brother! However I stated to compete and found a real love for it! At 16 I moved to Loughborough to swim for the university while studying a diploma in sports coaching. I’ve achieved many of my goals including to compete at British and European championships as well as race at the 2020 Olympics trials but nothing quite matches the feel of teaching others and watching them succeed!
I started volunteering as a coach while I was studying and lifeguarding at my local pool and recently completed my qualifications.
I am passionate about teaching as I believe everyone should have the opportunity to learn to swim. I aim to encourage and educate all ages and ability of swimmers to achieve beyond their expectations.
Communication and patience are key values for me as I believe a little goes a long way. I try to teach most of my lessons in the water to aid and support swimmer that a little bit of reassurance as well as to make demonstrations easier and accurate!
I have a range of experience through club teaching, from new beginners to competitive athletes. I also have previous experience working with swimming rehabilitation while I was working in care for the elderly for just over a year!
My main goal is to make my lessons enjoyable and educational whilst making you feel like you’ve achieve something new each week. I pride myself on being able to communicate and work closely with swimmers to create a personalised plan suited to meet their goals!
Thank you for getting to know me a little, I hope to see in the pool soon!
I really enjoyed my first set of private lessons with Laura. She took the time to understand my goals, the ‘why’ behind those goals, and then at the start of each session discussed what stroke / technique areas I’d like to focus on, tailoring the drills and session structure accordingly. This meant I always felt the sessions were truly 1-1 tailored and of high value for money!
I have since significantly improved my breathing technique, stamina, and all round passion and confidence for swimming – and a year on now swimming 3-4 times a week aiming for first triathlon next year!
Highly recommended.
