Mattie – Lead Swimming Teacher – Aberdeen

Hey there, I’m Mattie! You can find me based at Bannatyne in Aberdeen and I believe that everyone can find a way to enjoy the water.

My journey into swim teaching began when I was 14, volunteering as a Pool Helper to complete part of my D of E award at school. My role was to keep the poolside organised and to prevent slips & trips. From that, I achieved my Level 1 Assistant qualification and could now help instructors teach in the water, providing support where needed. Earning my Level 2 qualification at 18, I then taught my own classes and have been doing so for several years now. I truly enjoy connecting with swimmers of all ages. There is nothing quite like seeing a swimmer master a new skill or gain confidence in the pool.

While I love incorporating fun and games into my lessons, I am equally committed to developing a strong technique. I can adapt to working with diverse learners, including those with disabilities, ensuring everyone receives the attention they need. As a friendly and understanding instructor, I’m looking forward to helping you achieve your swimming goals!
